Finisher

August 2, 2025: This was the hardest thing I’ve ever done physically. I was in so much pain at the end that I cried when I crossed the finish line.

I’m not sorry I did it. I learned so much about myself in the nine months I trained for this. And I had a few setbacks. I dislocated my shoulder on July 17. (Actually, Randi dislocated it. LOL.) So that definitely set me back with strength training and hiking both. I’m in physical therapy now for that.

We were supposed to camp at Burr Oak State Park that weekend but ultimately decided not to because Randi is too reactive to everything and it would have been super stressful. I booked an Airbnb instead and my mom came with me. We had a good time. The Airbnb was nice, and we ordered pizza delivery and had wine after I finished Mammoth.

Would I do it again? I honestly don’t know. If I do, it won’t be the one at Burr Oak again. I’d love to try a different location.
